Texas Independence Day 2024: Date, History, Significance
Texas Independence Day is observed on March 2, aimed at commemorating the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence on the same date in 1836. Inhabitants of Texas declared independence from Mexico and founded the Republic of Texas with the signing of this declaration by over 59 delegates.
History
On December 29, 1845, the United States Congress officially proclaimed Texas as a member of the Union. Sam Houston Day and Texas Flag Day are also observed on March 2.
